The guests for this week were:

David Wilson , proprietor of El Rincon Tapas Bar Southgate and founder of Greville-Smyth Park Bowling Club.

Ed Lobbett, owner of Executive Branding

Sheona – a friend of David’s  from Leicester

We talked about the history and current offerings in El Rincon and the history of the newly revived green bowling club in Greville Smyth Park in Southville.  With Ed we discussed the joys of Karaoke and how Volunteering can help both the giver and receiver, and is a great way of learning new skills in preparation for a career change.

We also chatted to Sheona about how her professional and personal life were radically altered by being coached.

And in honour of EL Rincon we played almost exclusively Spanish music.

Perry’s guests this morning will be Helen Toogood and Gloria Majury.  They will be talking about their work as carers within the Bristol area.

This programme proved to be most interesting and educative.  I was happy to be accompanied by TIM  LLOYD-YEATES who is the Executi8ve director of “ALIVE”, helping older people to feel alive through activities.  Tim has joined the “Silversounds team” and this was my first opportunity to work with him.  He invited a guest on our programme, RUSSELL COWAN from “Link Age” and we learned of the work of his charity.  I need particularly to mentioned a major part of his work in the “Befriending Service” where people who are or feel isolated can be befriended by a member of the Link Age team.  The contact telephone number is 0117 3533042 and the web site is www.linkagebristol.org.uk where further information is available.

Another member of the Silversounds team, George Moss also joined us to tell us     about the recently announced “Benefit changes”.  He gave valuable advice to listeners who could be affected.
